Position Summary:
As a Youth Services Team Member, you will engage with children aged 18 months to 9 years in a collaborative team environment. You are an enthusiastic and responsible youth leader who can foster a dynamic and safe environment, adept at maintaining control in diverse and evolving settings. Your ability to build authentic relationships with both youth and their parents is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our Friday Fun Nights, birthday parties and special events. Your energy and willingness to lead and participate in activities is key to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritizing children’s safety while offering engaging activities that meet the Club’s high standards.
- Following a structured schedule and supervising youth both at the Club and during outings.
- Demonstrating creativity in organizing activities, games, crafts, and other enriching experiences.
- Cultivating strong, supportive relationships with members, guests, and staff.
- Actively listening to, encouraging, and ensuring the well-being of all children in a stimulating environment.
- Providing courteous, prompt, and professional attention to all members, guests, and employees.
- Creating a fun and safe environment conducive to learning and play.
- Enforcing program rules and ensuring participants’ rights are respected.
- Promptly reporting incidents to the Supervisor, Member & Youth Services.
- Effectively resolving conflicts that arise among participants during the program.
- Communicating with parents as necessary to provide updates and address concerns.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience babysitting and/or working with children, preferably in a camp or similar setting (experience in British Columbia is a plus).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with children, parents, and team members.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and ability to support children’s social, emotional, and physical needs.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about creating a fun and nurturing environment for children.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a strong interest in ongoing development of leadership skills.
- Solutions-oriented and proactive in nature
- Child Care Emergency First Aid & CPR-C
- If over the age of 18, must hold, or obtain a valid Criminal Record Check – vulnerable sector (to be reimbursed).
