NSW COO/GM Announcement
Dear Members,
I am writing with an exciting leadership update related to our Chief Operating Officer/General Manager role. We are pleased to announce that TC Carling will be joining our Club as our new COO/General Manager effective November 20, 2023. After receiving more than fifty applications for the role, the Board and Search Committee had the opportunity to review and meet with several qualified candidates, and we all believe that TC is the right person to lead our Club at this important time.
TC is joining us after being the President & CEO the last three years with the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation (CMHF), a national non-profit that develops mental and physical health resources for men and families across our country. TC has also held a number of other senior executive roles over the last two decades. As Senior Vice President of Operations for the GSL Group, TC provided strategic oversight and leadership of all Sports & Entertainment business operations, including Prospera Place (Kelowna),Save-On Foods Memorial Centre (Victoria) and four Planet Ice locations. This role also provided strategic direction and budgeting for the WHL Victoria Royals, the Delta Hockey Academy, all food and beverage operations, as well as live events. Prior to GSL, TC spent 18 years in various senior leadership roles with Canucks Sports & Entertainment, including Executive VP of Rogers Arena, VP of Hockey Administration and VP of Communications and Community Partnerships. With this extensive background, we are confident that TC keenly understands not only the sports and business communities in the Lower Mainland, but also, what makes an exceptional member and guest experience.
In addition to his two decades with the Canucks, GSL and CMHF, TC was named the President & CEO of Fortius Sport& Health in 2019 providing him valuable experience in leading a multi-purpose athlete development centre. Fortius allowed TC to create and drive organizational culture, establish a member-first business model, and empower staff to exceed goals. He is a proven leader of people who believes in driving a strong culture for individual and team success, allowing people to thrive in their respective roles, no matter what the sport or amenity. We are confident that with this people-first leadership approach we can continue the North Shore Winter Club’s positive trajectory and develop strategies for future growth and opportunity.
As a proud North Shore resident TC has a very active lifestyle and is a lifelong fan of sport. When he is not working, he is the Head Coach to his daughter’s North Shore Girls Rep soccer team and is committed to the message of healthy living and the importance of sports and community for families. His passion for leading people, driving an exceptional member experience, operating a dynamic sport and health facility, strong communications skills, and proven ability to grow a business, make TC the ideal person to lead the NSWC at this important and exciting time in our history.
We look forward to everyone meeting TC in November, either when he will be officially introduced at the AGM on November 9th, or when he begins his employment on November 20th.
On behalf of the Board and our entire staff team, please join us in offering TC a warm North Shore Winter Club welcome!
Respectfully,
James Cronk
Board Chair
